📢 About 6A-E Pitch Day Competition
6A-E Pitch Day is a live competition where Course 6 MEng students pitch a thesis-worthy venture, a new idea, prototype, or demo with real startup potential. This is your chance to transform your research into a real company with support, mentorship, and funding behind you.
🏆 First Prize: Full 6-Month Fellowship
The 6A-Entrepreneurship Pitch Day Competition is both a showcase of innovative, thesis-worthy ventures and an opportunity to secure the resources needed to turn those ideas into real-world startups. This competition awards prizes that recognize technical excellence, creativity, feasibility, and venture potential. Our goal is to elevate ideas with the strongest promise for impact and support teams ready to bring their technology into the world.
First Prize: 6A-E Fellowship
- Includes mentorship, venture development support, and structured fellowship guidance
- A fully funded 6-month fellowship (covers tuition, stipend, and insurance)
- Enables the winning team to work full-time on their venture while completing their MEng thesis

Second and third-place awards will also be announced after the competition.
👩⚖️ Judges
All Pitch Day submissions will be evaluated by a diverse panel of MIT faculty, venture capital investors, industry leaders, and experienced founders. Our judges bring a range of technical, entrepreneurial, and domain expertise to identify the most innovative, feasible, and high-impact ventures.

September 10, 2025 – Information Session
September 15, 2025 – Online Application Open
November 6, 2025 – 6A-E Panel Event – MIT Media Lab 6th Floor (E14 Fund, Sandbox, Pillar, Link Ventures)
November 18, 2025 – Online Applications close at 5:00pm ET
December 5, 2025 – Students notified of status if moving on to present to judges
January 15, 2026 – Pitch Day
🎯 Eligibility
To qualify for the First Prize full fellowship, applicants must be:
✅ Registered Course 6 Student
✅ Rising Seniors (admitted to MEng program or MEng application in progress)
✅ 6-months from graduating
✅ Must be in good academic standing
✅ Committed to completing the program
📝 Application Process
The 6A-Entrepreneurship (6A-E) Pitch Day Competition is open to Course 6 MEng students who are developing a thesis-worthy venture with real potential for impact. Selected applicants will be invited to pitch their project live to MIT faculty, industry leaders, and investors on January 15, 2026.
To participate, please follow these steps:
1. Prepare Your Application Materials
Your submission should include:
- Resume
- Research Statement (your idea, prototype, or technical direction)
- Personal Statement (why this venture, why now, and your commitment to the 6A-E track)
- Optional Recommendations (encouraged but not required)
2. Submit Your Application
Complete our simple online application form and upload the required materials.
3. Selection & Notification
Selected applicants will be contacted ahead of Pitch Day and invited to present their venture to a panel of MIT faculty, founders, and industry experts.
4. Prepare Your Pitch
Selected students will create a 8 minute pitch showcasing:
- Your ability to execute the project within the 6A-E fellowship timeline
- The problem you intend to solve
- Your proposed solution or prototype
- Technical feasibility
- Potential for impact

Q: Who can participate in the 6A-E Pitch Day Competition?
A: The competition is open to Course 6 MEng students who are developing a thesis-worthy venture. Students may apply individually or as part of a team. At least one applicant must be enrolled in the MEng program and eligible for the 6A-Entrepreneurship track.
Q: What kinds of projects are eligible?
A: We are looking for innovative, technically grounded ventures that can serve as the foundation for an MEng thesis. Eligible projects may address any domain, including—but not limited to—AI, healthcare, sustainability, systems, robotics, human-computer interaction, or infrastructure. Projects can be at any stage: from early concept to prototype to a more developed venture.
Q: Can I participate as an individual?
A: Yes. Unlike other entrepreneurship competitions, the 6A-E Pitch Day allows individual applicants or teams. Teams are welcome but not required.
Q: Can a team submit more than one application?
A: No. Each individual must submit one application to the competition even if it’s a team.
Q: When and where will Pitch Day be held?
A: January 15, 2026
