Title: Techniques for Reliability and Robustness in Integrated Electronic and Photonic Systems

Abstract: Reliability and robustness are key concerns in the development of new electronic and photonic materials, devices, and systems. In this work, I present computational techniques to characterize the reliability of heterogeneously-integrated systems where multiple failure mechanisms are present, to analyze process variations in integrated photonic structures, to design robust components, and to make smart decisions about test configurations in the face of constraints on time and resources. The methods developed in this work are expected to be applicable to a wide variety of electronic and photonic devices and systems.
