EECS professors are frequently recognized for excellence in teaching, research, service, and other areas. Following is an ongoing list of awards, prizes, medals, fellowships, memberships, grants, and other honors received by EECS faculty from September 2020 through August 2021.
Hari Balakrishnan, Fujitsu Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, received the Infosys Prize 2020 in Engineering and Computer and Science on Dec. 2, 2020.
Regina Barzilay, Delta Electronics Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, received the inaugural AAAI Squirrel AI Award for Artificial Intelligence for the Benefit of Humanity.
Dimitri Bertsekas, Jerry Mcafee (1940) Professor in Engineering, received the 2022 IEEE Control Systems Award on June 30, 2021.
Tamara Broderick, Associate Professor of EECS, has been elected to the COPSS Leadership Academy as of March 8, 2021.
Anantha Chandrakasan, Dean of the MIT School of Engineering and Vannevar Bush Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, was named an ACM Fellow for 2020 on Jan. 13th, 2021.
Henry Corrigan-Gibbs, Assistant Professor of EECS, was awarded the ACM CCS Test-of-Time Award on Nov. 13th, 2020, for his paper “Dissent: accountable anonymous group messaging.” Henry Corrigan-Gibbs, Bryan A. Erik Demaine, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, was awarded the 2020 Bose Award for Excellence in Teaching.
James Fujimoto, Elihu Thomson Professor of Electrical Engineering, was awarded the The Sanford and Susan Greenberg Prize to End Blindness on December 14th, 2020.
Max Goldman, Principal Lecturer, was awarded the 2021 Teaching with Digital Technology Award, co-sponsored by MIT Open Learning and the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
Shafi Goldwasser, RSA Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, was named the laureate for North America in the 2021 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards.Shafi Goldwasser, RSA Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, received an honorary degree from Tel Aviv University, which will be formally awarded in May 2021.
Polina Golland, the Henry Ellis Warren (1894) professor of EECS and a principal investigator at CSAIL, was named a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) on February 15th.
Song Han, the Robert J. Shillman (1974) Career Development Assistant Professor of EECS, received the IEEE AIs 10 to Watch: The Future of AI Award in August of 2020.
Philip Isola, Assistant Professor of EECS, received the PAMITC Young Researcher Award during CVPR 2021.
Luqiao Liu, Associate Professor of EECS, received the 2021 Sloan Research Fellowship on Feb. 16th, 2021.
Nancy Lynch, NEC Professor of Software Science and Engineering, received the first edition of the CONCUR Test-of-Time award from CONCUR, International Conference on Concurrency Theory, on September 2nd.
Samuel Madden, the College of Computing Distinguished Professor of Computing, was named an ACM Fellow for 2020 on Jan. 13th, 2021.
Muriel Médard, the Cecil H. Green Professor of EECS, was named the 2021 Padonvani Lecturer by the IEEE Information Theory Society.

Rob Miller, Education Co-Chair, CS and Distinguished Professor in CS, co-authored a 2010 paper with David Karger, Professor of CS and Engineering, entitled “Soylent: a word processor with a crowd inside”, which in October won the UIST 2020 Lasting Impact award at the ACM User Interface Software & Technology Conference.
Jelena Notaros, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, was named one of the Forbes 2021 30 Under 30, in the Science category, on Dec 1, 2020.
Asuman Ozdaglar, EECS Department Head, MIT Schwarzman College of Computing Deputy Dean of Academics, and MathWorks Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, was named a Fellow of IEEE, Class of 2021, on Dec. 1, 2021.
Tomás Palacios, Director of the 6-A MEng Thesis Program and Professor of Electrical Engineering, was awarded the Intel 2020 Outstanding Researcher Award.
Jonathan Ragan-Kelley, the Esther and Harold E. Edgerton Career Development Assistant Professor of EECS, was awarded the ACM SIGGRAPH 2021 Significant New Researcher Award.

Negar Reiskarimian, X-Window Consortium Career Development Assistant Professor, was awarded the Second Place Best Student Paper Award at IEEE International Microwave Symposium 2020 for paper M. Krishnaswamy, “A Compact Reconfigurable N-Path Low-Pass Filter Based on Negative Trans-Resistance with <1dB Loss and >21dB Out-of-Band Rejection,” IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS), August 2020.
Daniela Rus, Director of CSAIL, MIT Schwarzman College of Computing Deputy Dean of Research, and the Andrew (1956) and Erna Viterbi Professor of AI&D and CS, was named a 2020 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) on November 24, 2020.

Arvind Satyanarayan, NBX Career Development Assistant Professor of EECS, received the 2021 Google Scholar Research Award on April 7th.

Antonio Torralba, Faculty Head, AI&D and Delta Electronics Professor of EECS, was selected as a 2021 Fellow by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).

Joel Voldman, faculty head of Electrical Engineering within EECS and the Clarence J. Lebel Professor of Electrical Engineering, was named a Fellow of IEEE, Class of 2021, on Dec. 1, 2021.
Sixian You was named a Scialog Advancing Bioimaging Fellow for 2021 by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement in February 2021.
