Every year —since the establishment of the M.Eng. degree, sixteen years ago—the EECS Department has hosted the MasterWorks event giving M.Eng. students in EECS the opportunity to present his/her research work to the community, including fellow students and faculty members. As added enticement, awards for best presentations are given at the annual year-end Spring Fling awards event held later in May. The MasterWorks event was opened to EECS Masters of Science students several years ago.
This year the MasterWorks event followed the precedent of 2008 with all participating students presenting his/her material in poster format and being prepared to describe and discuss his/her research to anyone who wanted to view it and ask questions.
Organizers included EECS professors James Kirtley and Regina Barzilay and undergraduate administrator Anne Hunter.
Over 26 posters were submitted and attendance at the new venue—the R & D area, level 4 of the Stata Center—was full. Each presenter was engaged from start to finish, 4:00 - 6:00pm, in heavy discussion with many knowledgeable and curious attendees. Plentiful servings of ice cream and sweet toppings enticed the crowd. See the images below. For larger images, send a request using the site comment and inquiry form (at the bottom of this page).
