Nanoscale research is particularly amenable to development using numerical modelling and simulation--even ab initio calculations can be considered.

But today, these problems make great demands on the numerical techniques available to computer scientists and engineers. EECS research and academic programs seek to develop improved methods of nanoscale simulation and modelling.
