A Keg of Hard Cider

Thomas J. Fitzgerald
'50, Course VI

During the holiday season, the people on Project Meteor (Dr. Chu and Professor Zimmermann were leaders) kept a keg of hard cider in the antenna shack on the roof. This kept it cool. It was brought to the lab during the day. Everyone had a drinking straw in his shirt pocket. The bung on the side of the barrel was pulled out (the barrel was on its side with the bung on top). When you needed an uplift, you bent over the barrel, inserted the straw in the bung hole, and quaffed mightily.
