Abstract
Dynamic systems of neural organization exist at multiple scales throughout the mammalian nervous system. We have been investigating principles and mechanisms underlying hierarchical and parallel neural systems using theoretical methods and functional imaging techniques. Particular emphasis has been placed on dynamic clustering in the neocortex, and on the effects of neuromodulation across time. One model that will be discussed is the Network of Networks model. Several applications of biologically motivated models will be presented in the context of image processing and communications.
