FIFTH ANNUAL LIDS STUDENT CONFERENCE

Abstract

This is the fifth year that the graduate students in the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS) at MIT have organized a technical conference focused on the areas of their research. The student conference provides an excellent opportunity to promote communication and collaboration among various research groups at LIDS. It is with great pleasure that we welcome student speakers from the Laboratory for Computer Science (LCS, MIT), the Operations Research Center (ORC, MIT) and the Department of Aeronautical Engineering (MIT). The main part of the conference will consist of sessions of 15-20 minute student talks, overviewing topics related to control, communications, signal processing and optimization theory.

We are very honored that Dr. Robert Lucky, Corporate Vice President at Telcordia Technologies, has agreed to deliver the keynote address to open the conference. We are also very happy to welcome Professor Irwin M. Jacobs, CEO and Chairman of Qualcomm Inc., back to LIDS as our plenary speaker for the second day of the conference.

The program will also include two panel discussions, titled "Abstractions versus Real-World Problems", and "Launching a Start-up Company", featuring distinguished guests.

More detailed information may be found on the conference web page at:http://truth.mit.edu/~lidsconf/
