Abstract
This talk will be split into two parts:
1. I will talk about analyzing the performance of persistent TCP connections when applied to proxy servers. This body of work was conducted over the summer at IBM and tries to figure out whether and how persistent TCP connections can improve the performance at proxy servers. I will first introduce the problem, talk a bit about performace and then talk about the approaches that we tested and the performance results we got.
2. I will go into the various problems in communication networks that I have come accross while looking for an interesting phd topic. I will briefly introduce the various areas as I understand them and what sort of research we could conduct in these areas.
