This two semester sequence will introduce students tothe Technology Demonstration Systems Program. This program offers teams of two or three EECS students an opportunity to develop their own Master of Engineering thesis project. The class begins with a discussion of recent MIT designed integrated circuits and other microsystem technology that can be used by student teams to create and design their own system demonstrating the technology. Examples of the components to be demonstrated include: silicon CMOS imagers; integrated components for wireless digital transmission; a variety of image processing and compression Ics; silicon micromachined sensors and several others. Previous and ongoing demonstration systems will be described along with ideas for new systems based on the research technology. At the end of the first semester, teams of two or three students will make an oral and written presentation of a functional description of the proposed demonstration system.
