The subject begins with a quick review of standard techniques such as dataflow analysis and classical optimizations for sequential machines. Additional topics include deep program analyses such as pointer analysis and shape analysis, the application of deep program analysis techniques to a range of compilation problems, automatic parallelization of irregular programs, dynamic compilation, and analyses and optimizations for object-oriented programs.
