Introduction to analytic modeling and simulation methods used in the performance analysis of systems. Case studies from the literature. Emphasis on the evaluation of common policies (algorithms) for problems such as load balancing, caching, scheduling, routing, etc. Methods taught include applied queueing-theoretic analysis, simulation tools and techniques, performance metrics and presentation of results, measurement and statistical analysis of data.
