Abstract

Digital signal processing has had a long and rich history and every indication is that the real impact is just beginning. The low cost and high density of DSP processors together with the convergence of computers, communications and signal processing is accelerating the current role and future potential of DSP in a broad spectrum of applications. In a somewhat light hearted way, this talk will review some of the history and suggest some of the directions that DSP algorithms might take in the future.
