Topics include:

Block diagram description of cellular telephony; data compression Huffman coding; source coding theorem; universal source coding; scalar and vector quantization; digital modulation and demodulation; detection of digital data and of waveforms; The Hilbert space of signals; the Chernoff and Bhattacharyya bounds; error correction coding; the Viterbi algorithm; multiaccess schemes such as TDMA, CDMA, and frequency hopping
