Subject: Talk about the new AI/LCS/LIDS/Ling&Phil building

[Please forward this to anyone you think might have an interest in the new building... Thanks.]

As you have probably heard, MIT has announced plans to construct a new building on the site of Building 20; the new building would become the home for AI, LCS, LIDS and the Dept. of Linguistics and Philosophy.

Bill Mitchell, Dean of MIT's School of Architecture and Planning, will be giving a talk on Wed, 9/10, 3:30p, Rm 34-101, about the process of choosing an architect for the new building and will tell us a bit about each of the firms selected for final consideration. Dean Mitchell has a considerable reputation as an excellent speaker and an insightful architecture critic, so the talk should be both fun and informative!

Architects have a saying: "good clients make good architecture" and this is a great opportunity for residents of the new building to become informed clients and to learn what's happening in the early stages of the project.

A copy of the poster for the talk can be found at: http://cerberus.lcs.mit.edu/csbuilding/mposter.html

See you there...
