Hong Kong Student Awarded Dah Sing Bank Fellowship at MIT

A Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate student from Hong Kong has been chosen to receive the first Dah Sing Bank Fellowship in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science for the 1997-1998 academic year.

Mr. Shan Ming Woo received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from King's College, University of Cambridge, UK in June, 1997. While an undergraduate he was awarded the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Medal, and the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship for Overseas Studies in 1994. He received the Cooke Prize from King's College in 1995. He was awarded King's College Scholarships in 1995, 1996 and 1997. His summer jobs include doing volunteer work with disabled children in 1993 and a summer internship at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in 1996. Mr. Woo is currently working on his Master of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence and plans to continue in the doctoral program at MIT.

The Dah Sing Bank Fellowship was established by Mr. David S.Y. Wong, Chairman of Dah Sing Financial Holdings, Ltd. of Hong Kong, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Dah Sing Bank. Mr. Wong graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1962.
