TR 9-10:30, 1-273This course provides a comprehensive introduction to optical engineering. The fall section concentrates on the basic principles of optical design, geometrical optics, optical instruments, and radiometry. The spring term covers the operation of optical systems including scanners, modulators, light sources, and detectors and their implementation in products and instruments. Case studies are used to explore design trade-offs in commercial and consumer products.
