DO YOU EXPECT TO FINISH YOUR MEng/SM THESIS THIS SPRING??

Then consider participating in this Spring's
EECS MASTERWORKS COLLOQUIUM
Monday afternoon, April 29, 1996

EECS MasterWorks Colloquium is a twice-yearly series of oral presentations designed to highlight and honor our Master's degree candidates. All students who expect to complete (or come close to completing) their Master's thesis this term are encouraged to apply to give a 15-minute oral thesis presentation at the Colloquium. From the applicants, we will select about 20 to give talks -- those we believe are most representative of our best. And we invite all Department students and faculty to join with us in listening to the presentations and celebrating the outstanding work done by EECS Masters candidates.

Offering to give a talk is purely voluntary, and being selected is a considerable honor. The Colloquium program will be published in advance and distributed widely. All MasterWorks presenters are listed in the annual EECS Awards and Honors booklet, and prizes will be given for the best oral presentations. In addition, the Department awards prizes of various kinds for Master's theses which are overall outstanding; making a presentation at the Colloquium is ordinarily necessary to be considered for such a prize.

This Spring's EECS MasterWorks Colloquium will be held on Monday afternoon, April 29, 3-5:30 PM, in Rooms 34-301,2,3,4. Each talk will last 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute question period. To apply to give a presentation, please

(a) Submit a brief (two or three paragraphs) abstract;
(b) Include a note (one or two sentences) of endorsement from your thesis supervisor;
(c) If you are a VI-A student, please also tell us the company (and company supervisor) where your VI-A work was done.
Applications should be delivered to Janice Balzer in Room 36-825 (3-7349) (or preferably submitted by email, balzer@cbgrle.mit.edu), and must be received by APRIL 8 in order to be considered. Students selected to give presentations will be notified by April 16.

PLEASE APPLY!! Talk it over with your supervisor, or give one of us a call. We look forward to another exciting afternoon on April 29.
