EECS Seeks Administrative Officer

The MIT Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is searching for an Administrative Officer. Persons wishing to be considered for this position should apply to the MIT Personnel Office. Two copies of both a cover letter and a resume are required. Names of three references will be requested before the final selection is made.

ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, to act on behalf of the Department Head as the chief business officer, with comprehensive responsibilities for independently managing the financial, business, and administrative matters of the department. Will provide counsel and support to faculty, students, and staff of the department regarding finances, personnel, facilities, space, operations, and external relations. Will report to the Department Head, and supervise about 10 employees directly and about 20 more indirectly. Will interact frequently with about 10 interdepartmental laboratories, other departments, and many MIT offices. REQUIREMENTS : strong interpersonal and communications skills, ability to supervise and delegate responsibility, strong fiscal skills, and experience using office computers. Knowledge of MIT and its administrative procedures is highly desirable. Must be goal-driven and able to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines. Must be able to lead a team with complementary skills to meet all responsibilities. Three references will be required.
