January 6, 1995

ADJUNCT FACULTY POSITIONS

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science seeks candidates for the Bernard Marshall Gordon Professorship in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Appointments will be at the rank of Adjunct Professor, and may be part time or full time. Candidates should have over ten years of significant industrial experience in the creative development of successful products, processes, or systems in areas of relevance to electrical engineering and computer science, or a related field of engineering represented at MIT. Duties of the Gordon Professor include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, advising students, and supervising theses and student projects. Gordon Professors are expected to play a significant role in introducing into the classroom and laboratory the attitudes and styles of industrial design, and to serve as role models for students who aspire to industrial careers. The candidate should also have experience with important professional and industrial issues such as engineering strategy, engineering economics, manufacturing, and total quality management, and be able to help integrate such topics into the department educational program.

All candidates should write to the address below, indicating their interest in the Gordon Professorship, and describing their professional experience and interests, and their goals in both teaching and research. Each application should include a curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of three or more references. Additional material, such as papers or technical reports, or one letter of reference sent under separate cover, would also be helpful. All candidates should indicate citizenship and, in the case of non-US citizens, describe their visa status. Please respond by May 1, 1995.
