This subject does not qualify as an Engineering Concentration subject.

This course will examine the fundamental problems faced by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other providers of networking services. These problems include resource allocation, traffic engineering and management, performance and scalability, security, availability, and the delivery of advanced services such as virtual private networks (VPNs) and multicast. Technical challenges posed by issues such as network neutrality will also be discussed. As each problem is examined, examples of currently deployed solutions will be studied to provide insights into the problem space, and we will survey the research that is being undertaken to achieve better solutions.
