Analysis of simple prokaryotic living systems: sequence analysis & annotation, replication techniques, metabolic pathway reconstruction, energetics and thermodynamics, structural control. Design: identification of optional components, refactoring & simplification, alternative coding strategies, CAD tools. Synthesis: PCR stitching, solid phase synthesis, arrays, error control, bootstrap procedures. Safety and societal impacts. Applications.
