Perreault to receive SAE 2005 Teetor Educational Award

February 16, 2005

David Perreault has been selected to receive the 2005 Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award. David is being recognized along with 13 other recipients. He will be presented with the award on April 12, 2005 during the Honors Convocation at the SAE 2005 World Congress in Detroit, Michigan.

This award annually recognizes outstanding engineering educators, offering them an opportunity to become acquainted with the professional activities of the automotive and aerospace industries. The program accomplishes this by underwriting the costs of bringing award recipients to an SAE meeting to participate in hosted industry tours and one-on-one meetings with industry professionals. Established in 1965, this award is funded through a generous contribution by the late Ralph R. Teetor, 1936 SAE President, who believed that engineering educators are the most effective link between engineering students and their future careers.

As the Emanuel E. Landsman Career Development Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, David Perreault teaches in the area of circuits and electronics, and is a consultant to industry. His research interests include design, manufacturing, and control techniques for power electronic systems and components, and their use in a wide range of applications. One focus of his work is the use of power electronics to enhance the efficiency and performance of automotive systems.

Dr. Perreault is a recipient of the Richard M. Bass Outstanding Young Power Electronics Engineer Award from the IEEE Power Electronics Society, the ONR Young Investigator Award, and two IEEE prize paper awards. He is a member of SAE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Sigma Xi, and Tau Beta Pi.

Dr. Perreault received a bachelor’s degree from Boston University, and a master’s degree and doctorate from MIT, all in electrical engineering.
