Professor Jim Kirtley was named as winner of the IEEE 2002 Nikola Tesla Award. The citation reads, in part, "For contributions to the theoretical analysis, design, and construction of high performance rotating electric machinery, including superconducting turbogenerators."
This is an important award, and it is wonderful to see Jim get it. Please join the EECS Department in congratulating him.
