Abstract
The TI C6000 family of DSPs use a clustered VLIW architecture to achieve high performance and low cost. The newest addition is the C6400 series which offers improved performance in both telecommunications and multimedia applications. TI uses an interdisciplinary approach to add new features to the architecture and examples from the C6400 architecture will be used to illustrate how new features were developed with inputs from everyone from compiler writers to layout engineers.
